CSE: – Centre for Science and Environment
Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) is a non-profit organisation based in New Delhi which researches into, lobbies for and communicates the urgency of development that is both equitable and sustainable. CSE operates as an environment-development think tank in India. The organisation works to combat environmental issues, climate shifts, pollution, water management campaigns, Sustainable industrialisation, green rating project to rate the environmental performance of major industrial firms. According to the latest ranking from The Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program (TTCSP) of the Lauder Institute at the University of Pennsylvania, CSE is the top environment policy think tanks in India whereas it has secured the 16th position in global rankings, climbing up two positions from 2017.
The main objective is to raise the environmental concerns among public, participate in seeking answers and more decisively transforming these into policy. CSE uses knowledge-based activism to create public awareness and suggest sustainable solutions. The tools for raising awareness are publications, periodicals, briefing papers, films/short spots, exhibitions, posters and other products. There is an increasing interest in environmental issues amongst public administrators, professionals, NGO professionals, private sector executives, students and environmental activists. Due to this, CSE has just started programmes in the area on non-formal environmental education.
