Generalization in DBMS

  • Generalization resembles the bottom-up way where two or more entities of minor level combine in order to form a greater level entity only if they possess any attributes that are common amongst them.
  • The entities of higher levels are capable of combining with the minor level entities in order to develop into a major entity of a higher level in generalization.
  • Generalization is also considered to be like superclass or subclass systems with a significant difference in the unique approaches followed. The generalization works solely on the bottom-up accesses.
  • All the entities are also combined to develop into more generalized entities.

For instance, Any student and faculty be developed into a much higher level person entity by using a generalization.
