IPKF:- INDIAN PEACEKEEPING FORCE

Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF) was the Indian military unforeseen playing out a peacekeeping activity in Sri Lanka somewhere in the range of 1987 and 1990. It was framed under the order of the 1987 Indo-Sri Lankan Accord that planned to end the Sri Lankan Civil War between aggressor Sri Lankan Tamil patriots.

The primary assignment of the IPKF was to incapacitate the diverse aggressor gatherings, not simply the LTTE. It was to be immediately trailed by the arrangement of an Interim Administrative Council. These were the errands according to the terms of the Indo-Sri Lankan Accord, marked at the command of Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. Given the heightening of the contention in Sri Lanka, and with the emptying of exiles into India, Gandhi made the conclusive move to drive this agreement through. The IPKF was accepted into Sri Lanka on the demand of Sri Lanka President.
