NAEP:- National Adult Educational Programme
NAEP stands for National Adult Education Programme. The programme which was launched on 2 October 1998 aims at eradicating illiteracy among adults of the age group 15-35. NAEP helps people achieve and understand the ways of self-reliance by imparting literacy skills to them, especially to the ones belonging to the economically and socially deprived sections of the society. With the assistance of NAEP learners would be able to participate in adult education centers for 9 to 10 months and get trained in various adult education practices. It helps people to raise their functional capabilities in their occupation and skills of management, to their own advantage as a group. The NBAP (National Board of Adult Education) has been set up to periodically appraise the progress and implementation of NAEP and to advise the government on various matters. Preparations have been made before the conclusion of the programme for continuing their education. These include library and reading room facilities, training courses for functional development as well as group action and group organization activities.
