NEPA:- National Environment Protection Authority
NEPA which is the acronym for National Environment Protection Authority which is responsible to create new policies, implement the regulations and dispense justice to all environment related issues in India. It aims to create a mechanism which would monitor and look after the compliance of environmental standards in the country. It is in charge of project clearances and to monitor the compliance with environmental clearance conditions. The NEPA has the final clearance granting authority for all projects regarding these issues. It is not answerable to any jurisdiction for its decisions. The Ministry of Environment and Forest has invited suggestions from the civil society, the states and other stakeholders for the designing of an appropriate institutional structure. The aim is to address the ever-growing environmental challenges in the best possible manner. National Environment Protection Authority (NEPA) is a part of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate change, Government of India.
