Straight and Toroidal Solenoids

The long wire that is wound in the form of the helical coil is termed as the solenoid. Commonly, the solenoids are used in the experimental research where there is the involvement of the magnetic field. The winding of the solenoids is much easier, the magnetic field at its center is quite uniform and is directly proportional to the current that is contained in the wire. Both the straight and toroidal solenoids have applications in various fields all across the world. They are used in the water pressure valves, in the air conditioning systems, locks of the hotel doors, MRI machines, microphones, speakers, cars, and power plants.
